Haltech ps1000 dropping connection with laptop

Hey I was just wondering if anyone has encountered their laptop losing connection with the ecu intermittently, seemed to do it a few times on boost today while dyno tuning though it has happened unloaded as well

When it happens the only way I can reconnect to the ecu is by closing ecu manager completely and reopening it, if I just click the connect button it will fail to connect

What version of the software are you using? The earliest ECUs shipped with a standard USB cable and that has been swapped for a shielded version. I've never personally had an issue but have had one customer complain of a similar issue and a firmware update solved the issue.

Thanks for the reply, I'm still new to this sort of thing, when you say what software I am using do you mean what software of the haltech ecu? Or what version software ecu manager I am using?

The USB cable looks like a shielded one not a standard grey computer cable

ok its already got firmware version 1.06.2 thats the current software if im not mistaken

not really sure what else it could be, cable is shielded, the car doesnt stop running when the connection drops out so its not like the haltech itself is dropping out just the ecu manager is losing connection with ecu

Just so people know. This was fixed by doing a firmware upgrade. So the firmware that came delivered with the ecu was faulty.......
