haltech e6x

i have an e6x coming next week for use in my 1984 rx7 gsl-se with the 13b efi engine.
i see the distributer in the 2nd gen is different then mine. actually i don't even see a distributer cap in the 2nd gen. is it a better system then the one on my 84 and if it is will using the haltech allow me to use it?

the second gen does not use a distributor. the part that looks like a distributor without a cap is the Crank Angle Sensor(CAS). this gives the computer the angle of the crank/e-shaft and the computer fires the ignition at the appropriate time. E6X can use the CAS as the ignition input and you can tune the ignition. when setup and tuned correctly it is much better that a traditional distributor.
