Question General EMS questions

Hello, I am looking to get rid of my entire stock harness, except for ignition. I want to use the stock ignition system. I have xamined the cost of replacing and the effort of troubleshooting my stock EFI system, and I have decided that it is not worth it compared to upgrading to a truly adjustable system.

Question is, which system would be best for this application? I want a system that will get rid of all of the stock EFI sensors, or at least as many of them as possible, and allowtotal adjustability, preferrably from a laptop. I would prefer a system that uses generic sensors, rather than exotic units as well. I wouldlove to have a clean engine bay, free of the OMP, OEM AFM, rat's nest, vacuum hoses, and all of those other little crappy systems that I don't need. I have an S5, so getting rid of most of those systems will result in serious reprecussions. Too much **** left over from the automatic that I want to get rid of too.

I have heard that haltech would be the best system for this application, and I just want to be sure that it would be the right choice. I am basically stock right now, but I have some nice mods planned for the future, very serious mods, and I want to start out on the right foot with engine management adjustable to just about anything I can throw at it. I expect it will make even a stock S5 a much better car right from the start anyhow. I am not afraid of doing the wiring. It is not something that I have never done before.

Haltech does make an F10 that's fuel only, but I question why you're doing this.

If you're going to invest time into pulling everything and replacing with GM sensor, why not go full E6X or E11?&nbsp The stock ignition timing maps are not optimal, and you can run them as aggresive as you want.

The installation is almost the same with the exception of hooking up the coils.

Oh, and your S5 ECU will barf with no OMP.

True. I should go all out and do the ignition too. I atually found a guy who can get me Microtechs for next to nothing, so I guess it is off to that forum.

the haltechs can use the stock ignition components, and the e6x will use the stock or gm sensors. the e11 is configureable to use any sensor you want
