fuel pump re-wire

ive gotten a few mixed up leads to this.
first of all.
12AWG right??
how long do i need?
i found this but i believe i ignore this and follow the haltech manual right?
http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/rewire.htm
just use the supplied 2 wires form haltech and connect them to the fuel pump and run these to the 2 wires through the cabin?
and leave the sending unit wires alone?

Although im sure that information would be useful to some, when you have a Haltech installation things get even simpler. You just take one of the orange wires on the Haltech harness, and connect it directly to the battery. Then you take the other orange wire and connect it to the positive terminal on our fuel pump, and the negative terminal directly to ground, simple. The only thing you might have to do is is extend the wire to the pump, cause its not long enough, and 12ga is fine.

Nothing more to do.

It would be a good idea to re-wire the negative side of the fuel pump to a good ground, there is one where the antenna connects to ground.

In my S5 FC (I would assume that other models are similar), the neg side of the fuel pump is switched by a relay, and there is 30 Ft of thin (16GA?) wire connecting it to a relay in the front of the car, which then either goes to ground or perhaps to the fuel pump resistor.

In any case this is not the best way to ground the pump.
