FD radiator fan set up.
just wondering if anyone has figured out how to get the fans to turn on to HIGH with rewiring the relays. i discusse this with Josh (Silver7) a while ago, but just recently got around to trying it out. this is what he gave me as a wiring write up:
There are 4 relays that work you fans.
Relay #1 - B/Y, L, V, Y/W
Relay #2 - B/Y, L, G/B, R/Y
Relay #3 - B/Y, L, G/B, W
Relay #4 - B/Y, B, L/G, L/O
*Remove Relay #1 and cut the Y/W wire at the connector.
*Remove Relay #3 and cut the W wire at the connector
*Remove Relay #4 and run a jumper wire from the B terminal to the L/O terminal.
*Splice the two wires you cut (Y/W and W wire) to the R/Y wire at Relay #2
You should have your PWM output for the fans connected to the W/L wire at terminal 3D of your old ECU connector.
With this setup, you fans will turn on at high speed when the temperature reaches your set value.
the problem comes in here... each relay does not have the B/Y wire as listed for each, and other colors are not matching. i have a 93 but i dont think the wires have changed colors in othe years. and i believe he also has a 93.
even though the B/Y wire is not one of the ones in question as far as splicing goes....can anyone tell me what relay number is what....for instance...say from passenger side, looking down the go
2 4
3 1 or something like that? maybe i will be able to figure it out that way.
right now i just have the PWM running the W/L wire in the kick pannel. any help guys? thanks. I am going to PM Silver7 and see what he says, but thought this may be of some help to others.

The wire colors I gave you are right out of the workshop manual. The W/L wire you mentioned is the correct color that comes out of your ecu but the color changes to G/B before it goes to your relays. What are the colors you have in your car? Can you take some digital pics of your setup? Maybe I can walk you through it if I can see a pic of you relays and the color combination of each.

yeah Josh, the white and blue wire at the kick pannel was not the problem. that is what has been running my fans. actualy i forget what the problem was now. i have to take a pic and post it. thanks for getting back to me though.

Wiring in different year FDs is different colors. I believe Josh has a 94, and some of the wires in a 94 are different than a 93. I am not sure which wire colors are different though. Some are different in the ECU wiring harness and I am not sure where else.
If you look at the wiring diagram it is pretty simple to figure out how to get the fans to run on high.
