Elite 1500 ignition timing setting issues

My car is a FD RX7. Here is what happened:

We have carried out the trigger offset setting with FFE RX8 trigger plate and oem vr sensor by locking the timing on both leading and trailing at 0 degrees and adjusted the timing light on zero degrees and found out 58 degrees offset for L1 and confirmed the same angle on T1 too. Then we adjusted the offset angle to 238 degrees (by adding 180 degrees with respect to rotor opposition) and confirmed 0 degrees timing light on both L2 and T2.

Then we returned back to 58 degrees offset and gave 10 degrees for only the leading cell of ecu software page and confirmed the 10 degrees advance on L1. Then we gave the same 10 degrees advance on trailing cell and checked with the timing light but surprised to see it went to 10 degrees retard not advance. Then we put minus 10 to trailing cell and checked with the timing light and found out it advanced 10 degrees which means writing plus 10 to leading cell sections gets the L1 to 10 degrees advance but it works opposites in trailing cell and in order to give 10 degrees advance for T1 we had to write minus 10 into the trailing cell of Haltech Elite 1500.

We did the same test on L2 and T2 and observed the same thing as above. Does anybody know what is causing this issue or if this is normal?

hmm FFE website says you should have a trigger of 90 or there abouts. Id go back to the setting and double check.

they have an excell spread sheat on the settings.

Personally, my trigger was a huge issue when I first got the ECU, came down to not having the current software and just didn't like the setting of 36-1 with no home.

also, the timing will be not based on the main map if you're using zero throttle settings I believe

I thought I replied to this already, but...

The timing is off. That explains the symptoms. Since you're TDC offset value is something I've never seen before, that's where I would start. While your methods seems appropriate to verify the firing order is accurate, they don't ensure a true relationship to actual TDC. I would pull the FFE wheel off and install the OE wheel. Use it to align the crank with the OE timing mark at 15 ATDC. Then reinstall the FFE wheel without moving the crank. While the FFE mark is at TDC, the reference to the OE position will at least give you a pretty accurate idea of where you are in relation between 15 ATDC and TDC. To produce the issues that you have you need to be off by more than a few degrees and this is a relatively easy way to visually check that. To go a step further, you can put a 15 ATDC mark on the FFE wheel to match the OE wheel and then lock the ECU at -15 to verify synch.

If I'm understanding your question, it's completely normal and the way Haltech have opted to setup their ignition tables.

Haltech ESP is set up so that all your ignition tables are measured BTDC with the exception of the base trailing ignition split angle table, which is measured in degrees trailing from the base ignition table (or retarded). So the trailing table notation is opposite to all other tables.

In other words, yes, you expect all values in your trailing table to be positive.

Might be worth downloading the Elite FD base map here to get an idea of how it should look.
