E6K--opinion.

I have an opportunity to purchase a used E6K. I want to know what you guys think of it, and if you think it is a worthy investment. Keep in mind that I'm considering this because I can't spend a lot of money for a stand-alone. I'm getting the E6K and harness for about 350.00. I currently have an 84 GSL-SE that I plan on installing an S5 TII engine and tranny. Please let me know your thoughts.

Mike

The E6K is a good box and for that price I'd consider it. Just make sure the harness is in good shape. More times than not used harnesses need to go in the scrap bin so you can start with something new. If you have to do that you've blown your budget. If the harness is hacked up and has crimp connectors and tape holding it together either negotiate a better price or pass on it.

Thanks man. Do most guys use stock sensors with this ECU, or do they use universal or GM sensors?

I remember paying $1,500 years ago for mine. It's a good solid ECU with crappy tuning software. It gets the job done, but it is old fashioned.
I used the GM sensors that came with mine.

You will need to use the GM sensors. The S5 TPS will work well. You'll need coolant and intake air temp as well as a MAP sensor.
