CA E6K firmware. Who has success?

Hey guys,
So I purchased an e6k a while back and finally got around to installing it and had trouble connecting it to my laptop. I kept getting ecu comm errors and then finally got
the "you need a different version of software" message. Well it turned out to just be my dosbox settings. I borrowed a friend's e6k and had no problem hooking up to it and running the car at all. I attempted to reflash my firmware and the install failed! The ecu wont even try to connect now it just says ecu connection error as if its not even plugged in or powered up. Upon further research it seems that my laptop has too much processor power to successfully reflash my ecu.

I tried bootstrap mode with the pins jumped and everything.

Has anyone successfully reflashed their e6k firmware using fu2.exe?

What kind of computer are you hooking up to the E6k? You may need a dedicated, old DOS machine with a real serial cable to do it.

It's an inspiron 600m with a dedicated serial port. I found some info in the old yahoo haltech group where hitman says that load errors happen a lot if using anything faster than p166. I can't find a laptop that slow to save my life.

Do you happen to have something like that?

Mine wasn't nearly that slow. It was probably around a 900Mhz or so, but running windows 98 and has real DOS on it.

That crapped out, but now I run a crappy Vista (useless!) machine with a PCI to serial adapter card and Dos BOX... no problems with my ancient E6k
