A/C Request. Bypassing it to free up haltech input/output

Has anyone looked at not using the haltech to control the A/C. Can't you just hard wire it on to turn on when required without the haltech? The only downfall I can figure is that the haltech will not be able to control idle.

The E8 does not have enough outputs/inputs for me.

PWM1 Tacho
PWM2 Bac
PWM3 Generic PMM used for my water Injection
PWM4 Air Con
Aux 1 Aux fuel pump. (Trigger at 1000rpm 1psi to turn on A/I pump)

AD1 is not actually included in the E8 not sure what is up with that.
AD2 Wideband
AD3 Map Selection
AD4 Datalog activation

ignition outs are all use as I am full sequential ignition running a autronic 500R

Dig Aux input 1 AC request
Timed Input 3 Road speed

I would like to add
-Boost control (Get rid of MY AVCR. Less wire less hoses)
-Boost trim so I can run low boost daily and crank the boost when I need it
-Possible tie something to turn on corvette airpump to cat converter (I am sick of the stink!)
-Would be nice to have EGT. Not really necessary since I never ever had an input before just a gauge?

Anyhow any suggestions......

Went from the E6K to the E8. Remotely looking at the new platinum2000 (But they seem to have increased significantly in price) or just going back to stock

Best bang for the buck is to remain E8 and try to eliminate some of the I/P and O/P.

Lots of options...

What are you using for ignition? May be able to run the tach with an ignition box or an external tach converter.

If you're not planning on running the OMP, you could use the GM ISC valve instead of the stock BAC. This would use the otherwise unusable idle circuit instead of a PWM.

You actually have aux out 1 and a hidden aux out 2. Aux out 2 isn't on the schematic and isn't in the harness. It's on the board though. Add the pin to the harness and you're good to go. Details - http://forums.haltech.com/viewtopic....aux+out#p10665

AC can go on the aux out. So that saves the PWM for something that needs pulse width and not a simple switched on/off.

Haltech did pass along a pretty large price increase last fall. If it comes down to wanting to upgrade, let me know and I'll help you out as best we can, since you're loyal to the brand.

Not sure if that helps enough, but it's a start.

Lugwig,

Thank you so much for posting. I sent you an email via your business website.

I am running the Autronic 500R.

If I remember correctly I already tried hooking up my wideband to some pin (Can't remember which one) and it didn't work) I got the pin from Haltech USA. When I called them to tell them it didn't work it was because apparently I have the older board on my E8 so therefore it will not work. Are we talking about the same pin? (Ok search button works! https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...n+wideband+pin)

Also if I remember my aux1 output is grey out and unselectable in the software. (I have not had my car for two years. Its going through a nice paintjob rebuild.

Interesting on the aux o/p 2 being available. I am already using the aux out for turning on my A/I pump.
