alright, help me out. Got some idle questions

Ok, my last post was about trigger angles. I got a new timing light. My old one wasn't working and the engine would run, even though the timing was way too advanced.

So the timing is dead on now (timing lock is set at -5 BTDC leading plug, -20 BTDC trailing), but now the engine won't hold an idle. I adjusted the screw on top the throttle body until the engine starts easy, but then the RPMs would slowly, constantly climb up to like 1500 RPMs by itself, and then the engine would die. So I went to Range 4, bar 1 (TPS is load sensor) and brought the injector ms up. I start it again and it will now climb to 2000 RPMs before it dies. So now I go to Range 5 and adjust bar 1. Next time I start it, it goes to 2500 RPMs before it does. What do I do to get it to idle at a constant speed? It seems like the adjustments I'm making is just allowing the engine to free rev higher and higher. I don't have the stock BAC or cats. The exhaust smells like its running rich and will back fire once in a while when I try to start it a bunch of times in a row. Its not making black smoke though. If I bring the injector ms down at any range, it won't free rev past that range, but it won't stop and idle there, it will die. Engine compression is good, and I got a 1000 amp battery that kicks the engine over at 320 RPMs. Any tips or advice would be nice.

The zero throttle map is disabled. Forgot to mention that.

It sounds like you have an intake leak somewhere.
It also sounds like the maps are still off, and when you adjust an RPM "page" it starts to go higher but barfs at the next higher RPM "page".  If the maps were really rich, it would shoot enough fuel to temporarily snuff out the spark plug.

lol, Barfs huh? Is that a technical term? I will try lowering the injector ms and see if the RPMs will stop trying to climb on its own. There was a vacuum leak; the other day I had found two large openings on the back of the dynamic chamber that I forgot to block off. Even though the engine isn't running right as of yet, it sounds a lot better after I blocked those holes. Thanks for the info. After looking at the maps, I think I see whats wrong.
