Air intake temp sensor location?

I know with pretty much any Rotary install I see most air intake temp sensors located in the intake piping before the throttle body.
Is this the recommended placement for it?

I'm installing an E8 into a piston engined car, installing the AIT sensor in the manifold would make life real easy, but if its needed before the TB then I guess I'll have to make due lol.

Thanks

The manifold, after the throttle body, is a more technically correct placement. You will hear people say the sensor heat soaks there but the reality is that at low throttle angles the volume of air moving through the manifold is low and yes the manifold heat soaks and yes the the small amount of air moving through the manifold picks up that heat. Once the throttle is opened and the volume of air comes up, the indicated and actual temperature will come down.
