Mounts are shipping!
Hi all,
Yes, it's true, I got boxes into the mail today, more will go Friday and Saturday. I'll send out tracking numbers to those that have their mount on the way via email.
I'm focusing on the "mounts only" guys at the moment, as that's what's ready to go, but will be on the Bronze Bushing Mounts asap. Will keep this thread updated on progress.

Those who sent checks...
Hi all,
Thanks to those who sent checks, but a few didn't include their Club ID or email address with them, and that makes it tough to confirm who it is. If you used a check and you're not sure you put your tag on the comment line or on a separate note, please let me know via PM or email to my widefoot comcast net addy.
Thanks!

Mea Culpa (with extenuating circumstances)
Hi all,
It's been a difficult three-four weeks and I've not been as efficient as I should have been. Quickly stated, a medical emergency for my dad and the decline, then passing of my aunt has shaken me a bit, and while I was able to get some work done (more mounts did ship, and I got parts in that were needed), a lot of you are still waiting for Widefoot Mounts.
I'm going to push as hard as I can this week to get the remaining "regular" mounts shipped, and get the bronze bushing adapters into production. These will still need some time for the machining and anodize, the big thing now is to confirm the elastomer shapes I want to use are readily available - it's not practical for me to make them, but if I have to I can.
I've got to go through the many PM's that are waiting for me, I'll answer those I can now, will get to the rest tonight.
Thanks,
David

Thanks guys!
Life/time pushes us along, sort of like an invisible tidal wave. I'm just getting a little more drowned than I'd like!
I've got PM's out to a bunch of people, and today (Monday) will be prepping more Mounts for shipment Tuesday. Those with spacers or other "special" stuff will take a touch longer.

More mounts have shipped!
Hi all,
Quick update - more of the "mounts only" orders have shipped, I hope to have the rest out in the next couple days.
I have material for the spacers for people with V-mounts, working on those.
Still trying to find a company to the supply the flex bushings for the new bronze mounts, it may be that I'll have to make my own.
Thanks,
David

Progress report
Hi all,
I've got a "request for purchase" out to the company that makes the same bushings as used in the cushioned bronze bushings used in other 1.25" swaybar applications. Not an easy company to buy from, but it'll happen. I'm using a 1.5" length rather than 1.75" to reduce package size and potential binding due to torsion of the car's frame under cornering loads. Won't affect lifespan, especially as my setup will be relubable.
1.25" spacers are being made now and will ship with the mounts setup for people using non-stock radiator setups, or (gasp!) V8s.

needs more track time

So nice to see more of David's excellent parts being made again - and to see David on the forum talking shop.
I've been running your mounts for 10 years or so now. I was probably one of the first to use them with a V-mount setup. I remember you making the spacers for me after I stumbled upon the problem.

Awww...
Gracer, Manny,
Thanks for the kind words! It's hard for me to believe how long I've been making these parts, I think the earliest set goes back to ~1998.
I still hope to get my semi-tube frame '93 finished and on the track next year, but it's taking a "little" longer than I'd hoped with all the money that's gone into the shop itself. When the car is running I'll start developing more parts, as I don't want to release anything I haven't tested and confirmed for myself.
BTW, my "widefoot" Comcast email address has been dead since Sunday, it's sort of working now. It's time I migrated my email to one of my domains anyway, this is a good incentive to do it!

Great Part David, really impressed with the engineering...
One question brought up by Cam at Pettit...he insisted the factory mounts would intentionally crumple to save the frame.
Has anyone had serious contact with your mounts, with the swaybar hitting something and damaging the frame? The ol mounts would collapse and these look like they would budge...just curious and I realize that ur mounts effectively raise the bar out of the danger zone...
Thx Again
Todd

"Benefit" of stock swaybar mounts

I agree with Cam that the stock mounts are safer when a heavy impact occurs, that's why my more solid mounts are shorter, to bring the swaybar up away from the road and and lessen the risk of impact.
The downsides of the stock mounts - cracking, loss of control due to sudden handling changes (cars have gone off track when the stock mounts break under load) risk to main frame rails (they can crack around the 10mm mounting holes in the frame due to excessive flexing of the OEM mount as it rocks under load) - these, to me, outweigh the single benefit I see to OEM mounts. And the Widefoot customers seem to agree.
Those that have to use stock mount heights (3pc swaybars, V8's, a few other custom setups) need to be aware of they could damage the frame if the car suffers a heavy "off" or runs into road debris, but that's an issue for anyone who track drives, or commutes on the streets - things happen. A crash can cause damage to any part of the car, and has since the first wheel turned.
I'll take the consistency and reliability of Widefoot mounts over the chance of failure of the stock mount.

Update on spacers and bronze bushings
Hi all,
I've machined a batch of 1.25" spacers for those who need them, and they came out so nice (I lightweighted them because I couldn't stop myself) that now I'm debating getting them black anodized too.
If I do that there'll be an additional delay (what else is new?) getting them out, if you need your spacer-equipped mounts ASAP let me know and I'll ship before anodize.
I've been wrestling with the bronze bushing supply company, and after many emails and begging I've gotten them to accept my order. I'll confirm things are good tomorrow morning, if there's any setbacks I'll drive out there and protest on their parking lot. I'm pushing to get these done asap, sorry for the holdup but they will be worth the wait!

David - any chance I can still get in on a set of mounts? I am still rocking the set I bought from you back in 2005 and have been wanting to get a new set from you for the race car. I would also like 2 sets of bronze bushings if possible so that I can convert my street car to the 1.25" bar too!
Thanks for manufacturing these through the years!

You bet...
Hi GooRoo,
Sure, PM me with your info and I'll get you on the list. Or email me at my "widefoot" that happens to be 'my product name' at Comcast with the dot and a net.
Thanks, for the interest and being a long-time customer!

Update on parts production
Hi all,
I'll be getting more mount bodies and the 1.25" spacers back from anodize some time this week, as soon as I have them I'll be sending out the remaining "mounts and spacers" orders. These will go to the folks with non-stock radiator mounting or V8's who aren't using the Bronze Bushing Mounts.
And speaking of them, the bronze bushings I ordered should be in this week, the polyurethane bushings will be ordered (or I'll determine I have to make them), and their mounting brackets will be in production after a little machine maintenance today.
Thanks guys,
David
