TNT development progress report:

Pic#1 Finished mounting bracket design...not easy, failures are in pile at right. Very close quarters inside the plastic tray and other places in the oem tank.

pic#2 Front view showing fittings which have been sourced and final plumbing will be designed next week.

pic#3 Back of unit

pic#4 TNT in oem tank.

Yes, all this fits thru that little hole.

We really appreciate the CJM loan....without it proper fitment would be near impossible and I'm sure the several CJM owners thank you too.
The interest list is in no way a commitment......just interest versus not interested......at this point it is providing us with the many pump setups to design for.

Pieces and parts are all in to build the first two units as follows:

#1. Dual Supra pumps in-tank for SK8WORLD for drag car testing.
#2. Single Supra pump in-tank for TWEAKITRACING for autoX testing.

Both units should be built by this time next week.
Will start working on the CJM fitment soon as the loaner unit arrives.

Pic shows most of the parts for the dual Supra unit.

Interesting concept, an enclosed surge tank mounted in-tank. Do you monitor your fuel temps? I'd imagine that eventually the recirculating fuel would heat up a bit. Otherwise the design looks good. Glad you had the persistence to develop a successful fuel starve eliminator.

Yep you are correct...a surge in the tank. Have not monitored fuel temp and suspect you are right that the return may increase temp a bit but most of the refill comes from the main tank via the check valve.

Progress Report

Pics show final single Supra prototype.
Both single and dual Supra prototypes should be welded and shipped for testing next week.

TNT holds 2 liters. Latest design changes include Russel fuel filter and tank now mounted to the stock plastic baffle tray....this will make CJM fitment much easier.

Will keep you posted.

More Prototype pics:

#1and #2...shows custom fitting required for Denso pump inlet.
#3 Bosch 044 will require fitting adaptors that will raise the pump mount location about 1.5 " to clear tank ( plastic baffle tray ) bottom.

I would suggest having at least 2 ball valves to allow fuel into the cell, just in case one fails for whatever reason

A good suggestion.....problem is there is not much room in the bottom of the TNT tank and these valves cost $50.If you haven't seen this valve, it is very very well made and chance of failure is almost zero. However,if someone wanted to add a second valve we can do it.
We have been running our unit for two years with no problems.
Thanks for the suggestion....we like suggestions and comments, particularly while in the prototype phase.

Seems like an odd choice if fuel hose material even for a prototype. Why not just use regular black rubber fuel line?

The larger question is: does the surge-tank stay full? It seems to me that since the ball valve is the filling mechanism, that the fuel level in the surge tank would roughly coincide with the main tank level. Do you believe (since you probably cant confirm it) that the surge tank stays full even with an inch in the main tank?

Hey if it works it works.

Hey if it works it works.
More good questions:
1). Odd fuel line.....good eye and this is NOT the final fuel line we will use. This is high flex Tygon tube that we are using just to size lengths...it easily slips off the barbs in the development operation.

2). We think the TNT tank stays almost full "most of the time" due to (A) the return is adding fuel when not at full throttle and (B) the check valve is pressure actuated and we believe the constant slosh forces create a net positive pressure that pushes fuel into the TNT over-and-above the average level of the main tank.

Someday we would like to figure out how to video the inside tank action but for now we believe our autoX car experience confirms that the TNT concept works.
Hope this makes since.
