Lightbulb Rear Hatch Fire Extinguisher Mount

Hey guys just a little preview of one of the projects we've been working on

Name: TrunkAssembly.jpg
Views: 358
Size: 22.8 KB

We wanted to create an alternative, less visible mount to compliment our passenger seat extinguisher mount. The mount uses existing studs in the rear hatch and no modifications are required. It's completely bolt on.

Fortunately this mount fits nicely in the rear hatch and is easily accessible in the event of an emergency. Once the retaining pin is removed the extinguisher lifts right off.

Size: 22.9 KB

Below is what the extinguisher will look like when mounted. It's easily removable if extra space is needed in the hatch.*

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

-Dan

I really like that! Not too far away from where I carry a mostly loose one now.
Is this picking up mounting points from the bose sub unit?
Does it all fit neatly under the cargo cover?
Price and availability?

The mounting points we used are also used to hold the factory plastics in place. It absolutely fits under the factory cargo cover, with room to spare too

We are still working on pricing, but we will run a pre-release sale soon. The mount will be available by mid February as long as there are no holdups on production

We'll also be offering the mount and quick release as a package or separately for anyone who may have bought our passenger seat mount; it uses the same quick release assembly.

i would totally buy one if you made one for the bose.

and by totally buy one, i mean drop what im doing to send you money whether i had it or not totally buy one.

I have a friend who has unfortunately lost 2 cars, and almost a house due to a car fire. Neither were mazdas, but that doesnt really matter when you start modding things.

We are playing around with a solution for bose system vehicles. There aren't many suitable locations since the Bose system takes up most of the hatch haha. That's unfortunate your friend has lost not just one but two cars to fires... Accidents do happen though.

The prototype rear hatch mount is complete! A few tweaks are needed then its off to production! Stay tuned for pre-release sale prices. We'll also post pictures with the mounting points exposed.

Sorry for the low quality picture guys

-Dan

PS

For anyone who didn't already know we also offer a passenger seat extinguisher mount/quick release. We designed the mount as to not interfere with passengers legs or affect the seats range of motion.

Question Differences in pins?

Dan,

What is the difference between the standard detent pin & the quick release pin?

Respectfully,

Charlie

Charlie,
Sorry about that...I thought it was posted in this thread already. Taken from the preview thread...

The quick release pin upgrade uses a a push button to disengage the ball detent. It's a little cleaner than the pin with the lanyard. It really comes down to personal preference. The lanyard you can just pull out where as the push pin you need to disengage and pull.

This safety mod is a small price to pay compared to the price of a whole new car, and countless hours of labor. We all take pride in the cars we've built or are in the process of building, yet so many of us don't believe a fire can destroy what we've built in minutes.

One of our customers lost his recently finished 02 FD after an engine fire consumed the entire car. He was nice enough to send us before and after pictures. Needless to say he's purchasing both of our mounts to ensure his new FD doesn't suffer the same fate.

After (Crispy BBQ 02 FD ):
