i do have what will be the final basic design done, 1:2 scale model. but i have been advised to wait to reveal pics. there are a few final tweaks but nothing major. at this point i need a 7 to work from, and it will be a few months before then, unless someone wants to help me out, and we can have some payment arrangement.

Update
I am to a point where i feel comfortable posting some progress pics.
These pics are of a 1:2 scale model i did in clay. Please bare with me, the surfaces are not as smooth as the final will be, also i have large hands and this had some small parts, i am also NOT a sculptor.
A few notes on my plans, the shroud will be body color (other colors are an option possible carbon) pieces will come unpainted, unless my father-in-law wants to work with me (he owns a body shop and i will only trust them to paint it). there will be a clear lens that will screw down on top of the shroud, the lens will be created using the headlight cover as a mold, maintaining the stock curvature. a huge part of my goal is to keep everything bolt in without trimming anything.
also these will provide excellent lighting and be DOT/SAE legal. the black and silver rings are representing the projector lens, black=high beam and silver=low beam. now the socket (sorry for the roughness, but it was just the right size) will be an LED AUX light, it will give you an element of personalization, there will be several color choices, all of which look clear when off. there is probably going to be a strobe option (any color) as well. and for further personalization there are several ways to wire them, this will allow you to use them on a switch, when the car turns on as a running light, when the parking lights come on, as a blinker, or what ever else you cleaver guys can come up with.
Now for what you have been waiting for, the pictures, but first to clarify, it is a white clay and so i chose to color a portion gray to show where a raised area, it is shown with and without the gray (doubles of the 3 pics). I was not sure how well the shadows would show with my lighting.
I have been working with David Hayes and found that we have a lot of the same opinions, so now I would like to get some other opinions, please constructive criticism only. preferably nothing like "i dont like it" with now reason. if you dont like it please explain.

I think it looks great, the only problem that might pop up is the depth of the projectors. There is just so little room for them when they are forced to sit under where the headlight cover would be. If you can squeeze them in then that will be great, since you are using projectors that are less than 90mm in diameter, I'm guessing the length with be shorter (really can't be longer than 6" from the front of the lens to the rear of the projector.
The only thing that I'm not a real fan of is the bulb in the corner. It might look ok depending what type of bulb/lens is actually used in the finished model. If its real flush with the molded piece then it may look ok, but if the bulb is sticking out from it then I don't think I'd like it.
What would be awesome, is to have the Furai style light accents run along the perimeter from the bottom left of the unit to the upper right (underneath the lens that you install), or maybe just down the right hand side (kind of like the G35 Coupe lights). I'm not even sure if thats possible, an alternative is the LED audi look, but i think that may go out of style.
Here is a modified G35 light, see the accent on the right? (when its stock its just orange)
another...
LED version:
These are all kind of flashy, but i think a simple accent could really set yours off (I would prefer anything like this over the bulb in the corner). But again, the most important feature is beam quality of highs and lows, then fitment in a close second.
I had my Evo-R's modified by CinCity when they were first starting up (I was shocked to see Nick on the BullRun TV show haha). They mostly just retrofit stock headlight units with accents. They do know there stuff about different projectors and lights though. I would absolutely not share your design with them, but they may be able to provide you with some information on finishing touches that could really make your lights pop.

A picture is worth a thousand words and those pics of the model have me eager to see more...you keep making me stall on my purchase of lights.
Def keeping the curvature of the lens cover is good but not sure how that curvature will affect light output. I can't imagine it being any worse than other kits and if I was going non pop up, light output is not a huge concern. I ran C-west lights for 2.5 years with no real issues (it WAS dark though).
I think the design is very modern to what I see in cars today. I agree with chudsoncoupe that the top right light should be housed in like the other 2 and not sticking out. So far VERY promising and I'm glad I waited to see pics. If this gets off, I think you'll have a very nice light kit and some serious customers. I'm not big on the accent lights like Chudsoncoupe suggested...I like the LED's but agree they will fall out of style soon. People can always add it in themselves like David did.
Great job and kudos for keeping up the efforts.

evo, the AUX light, will be similar to how the projectors are, its an led light that sits back a in (for lack of a better term) tube. the socket didnt get covered in clay b/c it was just the right diameter. david and i discussed LED options and felt that it made them look too "busy," it just wasnt quite right. the way they are set up it should be fairly easy to modify them to individual preference. the biggest thing was that some seem to like them others dont.

Nothing at all would look better there. That said, I agree with evot23, no accent lights please.
Maybe all you need to do is move that light further forward and down, while moving the low beam closer to the high beam to allow that third light some space. Also, using it for anything other than a turn signal will look very tacky, imo.
This thread is the only thing keeping me from following in David Hayes' footsteps with the pop-ups... keep up the good work.

i have tried it with LEDs and no AUX light and didnt like how it looked. the dots represent LEDs
i dont feel 2 lights allows for the curves of the fd to be properly translated into the headlights, b/c no matter where 2 lights are positioned they are a straight line, the 3rd light allows for the curve. plus when there are only 2 lights there is far to big of a space.
because of my goals of quality and DOT/SAE lighting i am left with little option on the projectors. also the location of the high beam is as far forward as possible with out using a c-west style lens.
and as far as AUX light function, it will be left up to what the user wants. i personally feel that using it as a Daytime Running Light (DRL) is an excellent option. DRLs add additional visibility for oncoming traffic.

I'm pretty psyched today after seeing this stuff. Keep it up and count me in.

Really, I'm just being nitpicky. I'd take them as they are.

i gotcha, the spacing will be a bit different, the problem was its a small model and i have big *** fingers, lol. the curve of the lights will prolly remain close to what it is now, b/c i feel the curve is similar to the outside curve of the light housing shape itself.

i plan on using 90mm hellas for the high beam and a projector from another vehicle (not sure which yet) it will be like 2.5-3in lens. i also plan on r8 style leds on the base of the light. also i will probably offer halos at an additional charge. there will be optional strobes as well in the upper part, if strobes are not ordered they will be turn signals.

I like the placement of the lenses. My preference for the shape of the surface would be to follow that of the pop-up covers instead of the slight indentation you currently have. You could either cover the whole thing with a plexiglass cover, or just the light openings. For me, less is more. My $.02
