JDM Hand Steps anyone?







If you're not familiar, these are a super rare Mazda option in Japan - long since discontinued. We decided to take a shot at them, because, well, WE wanted a set!

Basically, they are a cut and finished piece of rubberish material from Mazda, attached using a couple strips of body molding tape.

Our version is cut from waterproof neoprene and we stitch the edge to give it a nice finished look. Attachment is handled with full release adhesive applied to the underside.

Stitching will be available in both black and red to give people the option of matching interior / floor mats. Sadly, we can't offer a ton of colors like our floor mats because the minimum order on this truly custom product is just too high.

If you are interested, I'm trying to get a grasp on where the colors break down (and how many people are interested in). Target price on the Group Buy is around $50.

I'm probably silly again. But, I would be interested in a set that exactly mimics the original design, flaws and all.

 

I have an OEM set I paid $140 for to make sure these were produced to the exact same shape. If you really want them, they're used, but they're here.

I tried buying a new set, but after they passed $200 I tapped out.

With these, we're trying to offer an option that's high quality, actually available and reasonably priced.

I will be down with this regardless as long as all black, but I would also prefer something that is exactly like the OEM design, or as close to it as possible. Also thanks for making it possible!

 

I don't want to disappoint anyone, but these are NOT going to be exactly like OEM... they're just not. In my opinion, they're an improvement on the OEM ones and ya' know, available.

I've owned an FD since 1999. I've imported hundreds (thousands?) of FD3S parts from Japan. I just saw my first set, in person, within the last 60 days. I don't think anyone is going to call you out or even know if they are OEM or not, because frankly, no one has seen them in person. I also don't think you are going to be disappointed. I've seen other copies from crappy material with frayed edges and inconsistent shapes. That's NOT what these are. The fit and finish is really, really nice.

I'll keep this thread updated as things progress... but we're currently about 4-5 weeks out from shipping.
