I would be interested in this as well, but noticed this list has been made starting in 2018.

There is a whole DIY thread as well as the DIY PDF guide by Jacob Erwin as well as plenty of other threads, all with a ton of available info on how to make this kit on your own, I mean just the Jacob Erwin PDF seems to be more than enough for this job. I don't believe its hard to make and you save a ton of money compared to the original price of the kit. If I wanted this kit I would go that route and save the wait time and money. To me it seems that the most difficult part of the job is to actually install it, regardless if you made the kit yourself or bought it from a GB. But to each their own...

I doubt the guy made over $100 in profit per unit after it was all said an done. I'd gladly pay that to avoid shopping around for all the individual pieces, likely ending up with extra fittings, spending 2-3 hours making the wiring harness and fiddling with plumbing.

If there was a simple all inclusive list that had every component and quantity then I might do it myself. There are a lot of threads on this and multiple approaches. You get a good idea and then someone says, oops, nvm that part was wrong. There is even a post on how to get it down to only 3 solenoids using a 4 port solenoid, but it was never verified that two of the stock solenoids always operate at the same exact time.

I had the same thought. I contacted Eric who makes these and he said he still does. I told him there was a list of interested buyers, but then I didn’t here back... I ended up ordering the valves, and will be using the pages to make my system and while I am doing that, I am doing a lot of other things to simplify the engine compartment.

If you are in doubt about other peoples solutions and various approaches why not just exactly replicate the AZ kit?. From my research and understanding he used two 103MG-2-M-V-12VDC and two 103SMG-2-M-V-12VDC solenoids. If I am wrong please correct me.

Not really interested in how much AZ made in profit per unit, but when Saxyman990 first made this kit back in '05 he offered a GB price of $260 for a 4 solenoid system, don't believe me? Here is the link: https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-ce...cement-447238/

Now with all due respect I agree that Saxymans kit was not as "nice looking" in terms of connectors and such, but I'm sure it worked just as fine. Please keep in mind that the most expensive part of the kit are the solenoids themselves, last I checked they were about $60 a piece, times 4 you're prolly looking at $240 for just 4 solenoids. Now add the remaining barbs, fittings, connectors, shrink tube etc. I understand you would gladly pay to avoid shopping around for all the individual pieces, but on the first post of this thread there is a list made by the OP himself of the actual parts that you need, a simple Google search, Amazon, McMaster Carr and you are set. Now my very rough estimate that this kit costs a bit more than $300 total to DIY I mean heck even if its $350...would you still gladly pay an additional $400 (more than double the price) to avoid shopping around? I wouldn't...

So here is a list of parts that you need which I shamelessly copied from AzEKnightz's post from 2011 from thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-966011/page5/:
1. Manifold 2
2. Connector 1/8 Barb x 10-32 6
3. 10-32 plug with seal 2
4. Fitting 32-001 1
5. Adjust elbow 1/8 X 10-32 MALE 1
6. Viton check valves 3
7. Y split plastic barb 1/8" 3
8. vacuum caps 4
9. bolt and nuts 2 complete 7"long bolts and mating nuts
10. Mounting Bracket 1
11. Wires 4' - 16 gauge black wires
12. Blade Connectors 6
13. Bullet Connectors - Male 2
14. Bullet Connectors - Female 2
15. Heat Shrink 2'
16. Butt connector 2

Now I might get some heat for all this and that is ok. I still believe that AzEKnightz kit is a great kit, its seems very well made and as far as I know it works. So for someone who does not feel like doing the work I absolutely support you. But considering I've been seeing you guys populating the GB list with 0 response from AZ...I wanted to offer the community some insight. This kit should not be difficult to assemble, I mean if you work on your FD you can probably do it yourself . There is plenty of information, and I still believe that the most difficult part of the job is actually replacing the old solenoids and doing the hose job. Assembling one single kit is probably the easiest part of the job.

And can someone explain to me how the f*** did Saxyman do it for $260? Was the dollar worth so much more back in '05?

Meh. I'd like to try it. I'm just strapped for time and sketchy on projects like this. Would be cool to start one thread to rule them all for DIYers.

I agree. I'm afraid there would be so many different approaches that some people could get confused...including myself

The kit AZE made had lots of connectors for plug and play that increased the cost. If solenoid pricing went up $10 per unit, which is a conservative assumption, that's another $40 right there. And AZE used the manifold version to combine the 2 shared vacuum sources, I'm not sure if that caused a cost problem.

AZE also spent months figuring out the details and posting for all to see. Nothing is free, and he made a plug and play kit. It could easily take him 2 hours to go from raw components to assembled and ready to ship kits. That's $50 right there.

I'm sure you can DIY it for cheaper, I've DIY'd tons of stuff but today I shopped around for the 10-32 hose barbs, good looking ones that don't distract from a nice engine bay are $5 a piece. Sure you can buy some big bulky brass ones for $2. That adds up fast too.

Heck, I've already spent 3+ hours looking at all the various old threads, and then seeing which suppliers actually have the solenoids. Then have to call them to see if they include the rubber seals for between the manifold type solenoids or if they are separate part numbers.

If a kit was available I could have avoided spending all that time. Which is why AZE was able to offer group buys and years later still have high demand (for random rx7 parts anyways).

If you can piece it together for $300, great, but I'm positive you will have spent more from a time is money perspective than if a plug and play kit was a "buy now" option. But when you talk time is money, that's more of a personal perspective and not hard dollars. So each person has their own make vs buy case.

It's really no different than buying a coil kit or fuel pump relay harness from sakebomb, or lots of other low IP items from other performance shops.

yes I understand. But as of this moment you can actually go on their websites and purchase those products, right?

The reason I offered this info is I noticed you guys are populating the GB interest thread with no response.

I.e. same as in if SBG stopped making the coil kit, I would go ahead and make one my self instead of endlessly waiting for them to make it again.

For those of you who are not willing to make your own solenoid kit, I hope AZ steps up and decides to make another run for you guys. That would be nice.

I understand we’re you are coming from, but I reached out to AZ via an email and he responded that he would make more kits. He has just been busy with his business and didn’t know there was that much interest currently. So hopefully he will get on here and see Whois really interested at this time.

Hey guys,

Sorry life have taken over, my wife is pregnant with a second kid and I opened my auto repair shop 9 months ago so I've been away from the RX7 scene for quite some time.

With that said, I will be checking back the thread and see who are interested and I will shoot every single one of you with a message mean while I will gather some information with my supplier to see if they have enough solenoids and to check and see how much it is to produce the kit individually.

Give me about a week time, and I will get this rolling.

Thanks for again for those supports me and my kit, I appreciated it.

Sorry, but I will no longer need the Solenoid Rack

Wife gave me the go ahead to convert to single turbo. I am going to simplify as much of everything I can. So, I am going to withdraw from the request for a rack. If anyone needs some solenoids, I do have some FABCO solenoids that are used in the making of these racks, let me know...

Definitely interested! Been looking at a rack for years but always stumbled at getting the solenoids as I am located in Sweden.
Sign me up I am sick of transition issues!
