MN Cast EFR IWG Turbo System Group Buy #2

We are starting another new group buy on our complete EFR IWG Rx7 turbo systems. We have increased our current order of investment cast 347SS turbo manifolds to 80 units. Question regarding this statement (the wording) on your site...
This turbo system does clear the OEM FD3S airpump when using the 7670. 8374 and 9180 turbochargers require a custom tension-er bracket and light trimming to fit the airpump( see photos).
So it will clear the air pump...but a custom tensioner bracket is required? Is that something that's available in the kit?

What if someone wanted to purchase the whole kit less the turbo could something be arranged?

I ask because I already have an efr 8374 with another manifold but I'm considering going with the short cast manifold.

The custom tensioner bracket is only required if you go with the 8374 or 9180.

The 7670 version of the kit will clear the airpump with zero modifications.

The bigger 8374, 9174, 9180 require some slight grinding to a non-automatic airpump. I am under the impression that the automatic airpump is smaller. It may not require any grinding.

You need remake the lower airpump bracket/tensioner with the bigger turbos. This is not something we are making at the moment. One should be able to just modify the OEM. it just needs to be raised slightly for more clearance.

What's the lead time on getting a kit once it's been ordered?

Also, if going with the 7670, what diameter downpipe is recommended?

The Manifolds are already finished and we are just waiting on them to be shipped to us. So with this group buy you have the choice to lock in your price and purchase the full kit at any moment. Currently we only have 5 kits sold so the price is $187.25 off retail. If lets say you join the group buy with the deposit of $2,500.00 you can wait till we reach a new price point to save more $$.

For the 7670 kit we suggest the 3.00" downpipe. If you intended to run 25-30psi boost we would suggest the 3.5".

3inch is what comes standard. If you max response a 3.5 inch should be used. Please note this should not ne used if you want to run below 12 psi as your low setting.

We can ship once the manifolds are finished( 2 weeks roughly). If you want your kit before the group buy ends( which is when all the manifolds are sold) you will be locked into the current price break point. You will then need to pay the balance.

Thanks for the responses guys. I really appreciate it!

Timing on this is perfect for me because I'm rebuilding a 1995 Montego Blue right now and I'm just getting started. I'm considering the 7670 since I don't want huge power numbers but boost response is a HUGE thing for me.

Where can I find some graphs comparing the 7670 and the 8374 regarding boost with respect to RPM, torque and HP?

3 inch if going for 12-17psi. 20+ psi should have 3.5 inch( no low boost setting).

Interesting results. Can you explain why there are parts of the graph that have been cut/pasted with different text and what they mean? I'm surprised to see numbers that low from that turbo, even on pump. Stock USDM twins will make more than that. What boost pressure is that tune for and is there more headroom for pump gas? Also, did you guys do any runs on race gas?

There is no cutting and pasting on that graph. I believe you are seeing the RPM trace at the bottom overlaying on the RPM scaling( same goes for the boost pressure). This is all done on the dyno's software. I have only added the red text to reflect the modifications.

I think you might be looking at the graph wrong. It made 310rwhp at 6.5psi!

The car is going to a 20 year old, its wise we start on spring pressure( which as one can see holds low boost just fine with a wide open 3" exhaust).

Ahhhh, I see. The white boxes state the black lines that overlay the graph; not the point at which the boxes reside. Makes sense. That's darn good at 6.5psi. Very nice meaty torque curve. I'd like to see other 7670 graphs but they prove to be hard to find. Still wavering between the 8374 and the 7670.

A few notes:

I weighed our cast iwg manifods vs welded when we first got them. The cast weigh .05 lbs less than welded.

Since these units are no thicker than our welded units they do not retain or omit any more heat into the engine bay. This is the same concept of the efr turbine housing design(low thermal inertia). This is documented by Borg Warner. The short design has a lot less surface area than your standard manifold and will therefor produce less heat also.

We updated our downpipes to have much thicker billet flange(2x as thick as previous billet units) and added a flex section for better long term durability and fitment.

We are at 15 deposits now, 5 short of the next price break.

For those that have not seen it we tuned a couple more cars;

8374IWG half bridge shop car ; 533rwhp @ 20psi( with a boost leak) on a dynojet, and later made 526rwhp @ 22psi on a dynodynamics( 604rwhp on a dynojet)

8374 IWG medium street ported FC3S 503rwhp at 17.5 psi.

Both on E85.
