Sorry to say, but the mazdaspeed unit is far from bullet proof. It's simply a moronic design which has very little shear strength, odd considering that is the one force acting on the mount.

I sure as hell won't be buying another one (mazdaspeed) since they are over $100 now and I would prefer to have a Level Zero prototype over the PBM piece, but it looks like I'll have no choice since I'm not going to throw money down the drain on another mazda unit and this is the only one available....

And as far as breaking the tabs off, a little gusseting of the stock tabs will go a long way toward fixing that, might as well since you have to drop the subframe to replace this crap anyway.

Right now we are booked up on the cnc mill. Once we have an open slop I'm hoping to get 5-10 beta versions done.

I removed the factory mount from my subframe, and substituted one made from 3/16" steel plate.

*Bump*

Has anyone actually ripped the tab off the subframe? People keep talking about it but I've never seen a single pic of such a failure anywhere online...

I've ripped the mounting point off twice! Had to get rid of the solid steel mount, not only for it breaking subframes but I read that having a solid mount can oval out your ring gear I don't know how true that is..but I got tired of breaking stuff, and I didn't want to risk having to source another t2 diff

i have seen it on 2 cars personally. though not common it gives an idea of the forces that can be present to do such damage.

Updates? Will be assembling a new subframe in the next 30 to 45 days and am still waiting for a suitable part to replace the OE style.

If the mount works out good I'll take one when I swap my diff out for an LSD unit!

The front diff mount is definitely a weak spot in the drivetrain design, but I believe the LZM mount design is a nonstarter. Solving this problem is harder than it looks.

Not enough hours in the day. We don't release products until everything is perfect, suppliers are nailed down and we know we can meet deliver obligations. There are 6 small bushings used in the current design. They are made one at a time on a manual lathe. Urethane is difficult to machine at the best of times, when it gets small and accuracy is required it is damn near impossible. We've looked into having them made for us, but the cost of tooling up will signification add to the final cost.

We have a few other products we need to get launched right now, but the diff mount is on the active product development list.

I have this prototype on my car as we speak. I hope to have my car mobile by months end. Once I get some seat time I'll give feedback on the mounts performance. For now I can comment on fitment and quality which both are top top top notch. I also had LZM make me a set of delrin upper rear diff mounts/dushings as well as a set delrin subfram bushings. Again the quality and fitment are outstanding.
