Two Motors, two problems!!

Hey Guys:

I just picked up two rx-7's that have seperate issues that I hope you all can provide some guidance and direction.

#1: Got a 88 hardtop, it starts fine, but as SOON as it fires up, it POURS smoke, and continues to do so until its done! I mean, its like the best burnout you have ever seen. It has basically no power and barely moves. I assume apex seals are gone and needs a fresh rebuild. If so, can you guys suggest a website for buying a kit to do it yourself?

#2: Got a 88 convertible, runs great except at about 3000 rpm, it gives off a feel of missing and bogging, but anything above 3000 it runs just fine. It does not smoke at all.

Thanks guys!

car #1,
the best thing you can do is to do a compression test and see what you stand.

Car #2.
I would check your grounding on your ecu since 3krpm is where the 2ndary injectors stage. it could also be your injectors being laggy.

Thanks Pluto! There is a special way to do the compression test right? Could you give me some more info? Also, could you give me more details on the grounding for the ecu? And if the secondarys are lagging, any thoughts on what I can do?
