An item I sold to a buyer didnt show up as advertised and I'm willing to give him a full refund AFTER he ships it back to me. (He overpaid me by $25 and I have given him a refund for that already). He however, wants me to refund him the money BEFORE he ships it back to me which is an absurd request. If he doesnt send the item back to me, since its a refund, I cant get any protection from paypal and can get screwed. I want to protect myself too if I go that route. What do u think I should do?

I don't think it's as cut-dry as you'd like to make it. Depending on who the buyer is, *if* he is trustworthy enough you should refund him first. If you doubt honestly that you'll get the part returned then ask him to send it first and then provide the refund.
The trader rating just came out so he has zero feedback right now. I mean if he had 50+ positive feedback I dont mind refunding him the money before I get my item back but I would like to protect myself too. Thats why I posted a thread in the NW section to see if anyone can vouch for him locally. Please vote to help me decide what I should do.
I just thought of this..I can give him half the refund and when I get the item give him the other half... I dont know if thats feastible for him but Im not here to scam anyone of their money but dont want to get shafted myself.

^That's a good idea! Try doing that if possible.
