IR Performance (NJ) / Feedback on motor rebuild, service and quality

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment and give a big thanks to IR PERFORMANCE up in Metuchen, New Jersey. I was at a point in time where I had a new job, new place and all-things new going on...I really didn't forsee spare time to work on the FD anytime soon (...for a year or two). So, I had the shop pretty much do a streetported motor job along with new associating upgrades and toys. I am extremely and thoroughly satisfied with the quality work and service I was provided with:

- Professional and friendly customer support
- Top-notch communication (...almost weekly or every couple days I received updates)
- Provided optional routes to take when things came up
- Great turn around time
- Took photos of the entire build process
- Allowed me to pay monthly / installments
- Excellent porting!

Also, the tune (PowerFC) was performed by Kahren. This is the same tuner that recently tuned Rich (GoodfellaFD3S)'s famous red FD, too. The tune was amazing...fixing a lot of little issues from before...but more importantly the tune felt "factory" like and smooth at all throttle/levels, etc. For a pretty conservative tune, she put out 400.85 rwhp / 345.68 torque at 17-18 psi.

Below is IR PERFORMANCE's contact info. If you have any questions about IR Performance or need additional feedback from me personally, please feel free to drop me a PM and I'll be glad to respond:

Oh, here are some pics of the before (left)...and after (right). All she needs now is a strut bar and wider tires (...and wheels) to take advantage of the new power she now puts down...and a '99 bumper. Don't mind the missing R1 lip for now.

^ Thanks! As you can see...trying to emulate the Spirit R interior panels but for LHD setup. Best part is that the interior panel scratches are gone which was horrible on '93 panels.

I want to add that I had a new set of Banzai Racing poly motor mounts installed. For my specific purposes and application, it generated too much vibration for me. I then decided to go with IR Performance's brand of motor mounts...by far, the vibration was little to non-existent. I'm not saying the Banzai Mounts were not good...but just for my purposes (street and sometimes daily/commuting) it was not what I was looking for. They are for sale, BTW with less than 1000 miles old (...used for breaking in new motor only).

I go to IRP exclusively for my car. The attention to detail is just amazing and really, the customer service is the best I have received from any place. I think this alone is amazing just because in the auto industry, I find customer service to be extremely lacking. Ihor is a definitely top notch guy. I'll be sending my car into them very soon.

^ I completely concur with you. Hard to find some honest and reliable people/shops that wouldn't go for a joyride in your car or not 100% in their own service work.
When I came to pick up the car in person at the shop, Ihor had actually asked me why I came to him. I simply stated two things:

1) Rich's car is in fantastic shape, care, maintenance, and more as everyone knows in the forum. I'm for certain going to go to the same place/shop he goes for his car servicing. Because that shop must be trustworthy for Rich to take his car there. Ihor did a hell of a superb job in building my car...she's quite a beast now.

2) I had scoped a lot of Ihor's thread responses and posts (...it's this, it's that, try this, etc) prior to contacting IR Performance. Unlike many, he provided feedback and instant-solutions to questions and problems people would post up in the forum. So instead of saying "...come by the shop and I'll troubleshoot it for you" (...while getting billed)...Ihor would post solutions on posts. Now, to me...that's contributing to the community without asking for monetary gain for his business. Sure, he didn't have to give feedback in that post, but he chose to do so...which is why I believe he was really in it to help out the community and not greed to pick up collected billable hours of troubleshooting.

Hello all,

Just want to touchbase on my thread. The car is running like a champ, strong consistent boost, nice idle, no sputter, etc and no ill effects or anything. Durable motor build, etc. Thanks again, IRP.

Oh, I decided to pick up an R1 lip since I had sold my previous one:

Uncommon commitment to Customer Satisfaction!

After being let down by SO MANY aftermarket shops over the year, I gave IPR a shot and was nothing less than delighed and WOW'ed at every interaction.

Ihor's commitment to responsive and timely communications was the first indicator of a well run business. Their machining and porting was every bit an industry standard. And most of all they always made sure that any concerns I might have had were quickly resolved. Gotta tell ya folks, these guys REALLY GET IT!!

Most Sincerely,
Carlos Iglesias
