Wont go past 5500 RPM in fourth
hey guys 90 N/A ... driving down the highway in fourth car wouldnt go over 5500 RPM and made a wierd noise when i was on the gas... wondering what could be up because every other gear will go past except 5th which i havent tested yet.
lemme know what ya think... Used tranny installed last week also

it sounded like it was comming from where the engine and tranny meet, right under my feet but not quite sure. it was never like that before i put this new tranny in.

Well sounds like some kind of bearing..
Does it do it in every other gear EXCEPT 4th?? If thats the case it's probably your input bearing..
Did you replace your pilot bearing with the new used tranny?

it could be a bunch of things but at the top of the list are 2 items.
your ignition coils.... when going bad they act like a rev limiter. the reason they are not acting up in lower gears is that they malfunction based on engine load. since aerodynamic drag is the primary load against your car at higher speeds that load may just be defining the failure point. ( you might also check spark plugs and primary wires)
the other item is fuel filter and, secondarily, the fuel pump.
