if I put a normal battery in my storage compartment?

I'm wanting to relocate my battery to the passenger storage compartment but I really don't want to spend money on an optima just yet. can I put my old battery in there temporarily? will this damage my health?

 

You will need a sealed battery box that vents outside the passenger compartment. If you don't want to go with that extra expense, save up for a gel battery. If you are tracking your car, check with the rules of the sanctioning body. You may need a sealed box no matter what battery you run.

You also don't want to smoke in a vehicle that has a wet cell battery with no box and in case of an accident, battery acid eats flesh.
