why is it ildeling to 4,000 parked?
i just got it cranked from sitting for a week for being flooded real bad well smoke poored out and went to high idle will this stop i let it go for a long time is somthing ealts wrong??? hellllpppp
It's supposed to rev up to ~3k when the car is cold (unless you've got it in gear). If it continues to idle at 4k even after it's hot, then I'd check for vacuum leaks. You may have a stuck AWS (Accelerated Warmup Solenoid). If you've got a S4 (86-88) it'll be on the driver's side, right under the dynamic chamber (plenum). I forget where it is on S5's (89-91) at the moment.... Anyhow, diconnect it and see if youre still idling at 4k. IF you are, check the brake booster line (passenger-side; it goes to a metal line on the firewall) and ALL other vacuum lines/solenoids. Do a full tuneup (adjust the TPS and the idle mixtue/speed) after you've checked for vacuum leaks.
