Where to start on rebuild? I need help
I just bought a 1987 rx7 fc3s? and was told the apex seals are bad but i want something dependable. i was planning on doing a rebuild my self but i have no idea where to start. i have done some looking around for rebuild kits and there are a million diff parts and options. I have rebuilt piston motors a few times but this is my first rotary. I want to go the cheapest route poss. can anyone help.
Cheap and reliable are tough to put together
Atkins rotary has a great rebuild kit and video. They come HIGHLY recommended by everyone I have spoken to.
I will let the pros answer this one. Cuz if you listen to me I am gonna tell you to get the full rebuild kit with all new apex seals and gasket kits. And that would cost almost $1000 for everything.
But then you would have an engine that should last for a long, long time.

I would rather go with a full rebuild, to make sure everything is top notch and last for a while, but if you want to cut a few corners, go right on ahead.
Here's a list of parts for a kit:

Once you take the motor apart and measure seals apart. Compare them per FSM, a lot of the seals are often reusable if they don't exceed the warp limit.
