so i recently bought a 1990 non turbo MT as a project and im having problems with getting it to start. when i turn the key nothing happens. i can push start it and it starts perfect everytime.
i pulled the starter off and tested it and it spins as well as the gear goes out.
so i put the starter back on and tried to jump the solenoid and the starter spins but doesnt engage.
then i realized i have more problems when i press the horn i can hear the starter spinning but not engaging???????
there is some kind of old anti theft installed in the car i dont know if this would affect anything also the person who owned the car before me was a complete hack and could of messed something

 

anyone have any ideas

 

I would take off the column surround and inspect all the wires and connectors to make sure you don't have any that have rubbed through or been tampered with, as well find your electrical diagrams for the car so you know what connectors especially to look for and such.

 

where could i find electrical diagrams i have a few but they aren't very good
