FD. Someone cut off the bracket. It's a common thing to do. Gives more room for a big turbo.

No but you can use it on one. It doesn't flow that well though. Get an S4 waterpump if you want flow. But would it fit your particular application? I couldn't tell you because I'm not able to teleport to your location. Yet.

Haha yes thank u.
It's a pic esmeril racing sent me to show how to mod the 20b WP to make room for the turbo. Unfortunately it's not a 20b WP- tho he thinks it is.

Would u know if the 20b omp sticks out the side further than the fd omp? On a fd front cover or otherwise,? Esmeril made me a turbo exhaust manifold which clashes with my omp. Needs about 15mm for clearance and more to keep the heat away. If they're measuring it on a 20b with fd WP I wonder if the same 20b has the fd omp and or front cover, which may then throw out their calculations.

Here's my 20b omp on stock front cover.
Any fd rx7s out there think it's the same or bigger than theirs?

Has anyone else here had problems with the so called Esmeril racing guys?

I highly doubt they have ever raced anything, at least on a real track. Christian doesn't even know the difference between a 20b WP/thermo housing and a fd one, yet he claims to have done 20b rx8 conversions!! He even sent me the mod guide showing where to cut the fd thermo housing, even after I pointed it out he claimed that his 20b dummy engine had never been modded and it must be my 20b that has a different WP etc!!!

Now I'm asking for him to remake the turbo manifold he sold me cos it doesn't clear the OMP and again I got excuses such as it's possible my omp isn't factory and is perhaps different to their one. His solution is to make me a 30mm spacer ( the cheap option for him) but no good for me. Now he's not answering my emails.

So this is the service u get after u drop over $10k on a 20b kit for an rx8 with big turbo etc. from the so called Esmeril racing!, buyer beware.

Oh and there were other issues too, but a little more minor than the others. I haven't yet tried to use his sub frame extension but I am a little worried for sure.

Feel free to list ur bad experiences here about esmeril. I'd like to know what other dodgy crap this guy is known for.

20b OMP would have 3 outlets..
but is essentially the same externally ( in terms of the depth of the stepper motor body )
to the s5 and ( 4 outlets ) and 13b RE and 13b REW ( 2 outlets )

i would hazard to guess his motor has no OMP at all

the obvious solution is to add another flange to this one and fit longer studs to the block

Yes, which is what he proposed to do, tho I also want to use a sohn adaptor for 2stroke which is gonna add another inch to the equation.. The flange would then need to be about an inch n a half thick..

The point is tho I spent good money for this to be right, and it's not. And on top of that Esmeril haven't really admitted fault, claiming that my omp may not be factory 20b issue, yet they don't even know the difference between a fd and 20b WP!! Something I was able to confirm within a few google image searches.

since you now need the adapter spacer then the point is pretty moot .
though i do agree it is a bit lame to pass off the excuse of a unique 20b EOMP
when clearly the manifold they built will never work with any electronic OMP

am suspecting their dummy block has no OMP.. or has an early front mount timing cover fitted
( with mechanical OMP , and apparently requiring the reverse direction FD pump ribbed belt setup )

just as long as you are sorted in the end. and the quality is good
the problem is being addressed .. and it aint no simple job to build custom pipes for rare engines .. and all looks OK from here .. patience !!

Some test fitting prior to cutting anything. Just curious about lack of clearances.

Also the Esmeril engine mounts n crossmember seems good.

Problems solved. The cause of my probs are now my solution.
