What is an apex seal
I am sorry i spent two hours searching and i could not figure it out. What exactly is an apex sea? What does it do? I have no knowledge about RX7's. Thanks

I don't know anything about RX-7s either but from what I have heard in context from prople talking about apex seals, it seems to be the rotary equivalent of the head gasket. Apparently it's the gasket inbetween the irons or something.. I hjonestly don't know but nobody else is replying so I figured I'd give it a stab.

I don't blame you for giving it a stab. Actually the rotary equivalent of a head gasket is the water seals which go between the end irons and rotor housings. An Apex seal goes on the tip of each rotor "apex" or point (three per rotor, six per engine) and scrapes along the inside of the rotor housing, sealing the joint between the rotor tip and the rotor housing.
An apex seal's equivalent on a piston engine is the compression ring

People refer to the apex seal as the rotary's "head gasket" simply because usually when someone blows a seal it's the apex, much like in a piston engine you usually blow the head gasket.
