I installed an Autometer mechnical water temp gauge. I used the 6 or 5 FT?? long wire guage. Some people said only the longer wire gauge works but you can make the shorter one work I installed the gauge where the radios go with two other gauges. I ran the wire towards the glovebox and through the firewall there. I put the temp sensor on the side of the water pump housing. There is already a spot for it by just unscrewing the plug. There may be trouble fitting the sensor there if the smog pump is still being used. I had to adapt a special adapter to install it there but it can be done. The gauge helps a lot.
