Vaccum leak question...

Will a vacuum leak cause boosting problems? Such as making the turbo "choke" when trying to spool the turbo? I was curious because I ended up inspecting the hoses and tightening claps etc but missed one. It popped off while I was driving not allowing me to gain speed at all but stay at the current speed I was at. After pulling over I found the loose hose, tightened it and then continued to drive. Granted the idle problem and the boosting problem is not solved but could these cause that much dmg? Tried to get a hold of someone to look at it here but I guess my buddy is going to help me check for leaks in the hoses and so forth. Any more suggestions would be welcomed. Thx
