Turbo Exhaust Manifold Design

Ok, on turbo exhaust manifold design.

1. How important is it to have or not to have a split versus common pulse coming from the two rotors in a 13BT? Supposing that Im using a split pulse turbine housing on the turbo.

2. How important is it to have or not to have equal length in both rotor runners to the flange?

3. Getting them equal length means the runners have to be longer and is the longer runners a good feature?

4. What is the ideal internal diameter for the runners?

Has anyone done experiments with comparisons giving actual dyno power results?

I haven't got a lot of experience with this, but I'm about to undertake the building of a tuned length manifold, using either 2inch or 1 3/4inch piping.

Tuned length isn't important for low to mid power applications (up to 400hp), but can reap benefits. Length comes into play at higher RPM, so again for low to mid power applications a short length would be okay.

With regard to pulsing, my turbine housing is a common pulse port, so I don't know about that one.

If anybody else has some input, I would appreciate it too.

It's recommended but not required.

Talking with "exhaust experts", they like 20" lengths before hitting the collector.

4. What is the ideal internal diameter for the runners?
One that will match up with the exhaust ports. 2" seems to be the most common size.

Has anyone done experiments with comparisons giving actual dyno power results?
I wish I had the time and money to do so!

Your first two questions is a matter of efficiency.  Going with divided and equal length just increases efficiency to the entire system.  It is not requires, but you get "better" power from doing both.
