Tranny????

Man, this just happened, left the ReX in the ghetto.

When driving, all of a sudden I couldn't put my car into ANY gear. so I parked it and turned it off. I can put the car into gear when the car is off, but when I put the car into gear and start it, it makes a dull grinding sound. Car starts fine if not in gear

Any one this problem or know what it is?

how old is the clutch. sounds like throwout bearing.... might have to teardown the tranny. mine did a similar thing before i brought it to the shop but i have a brand new rebuilt tranny sitting at the shop.

Pilot Bearing and Seal

Sounds like the pilot bearing and seal to me...involves dropping the tranny though to get at the bearing and seal. Do not forget to replace the seal also cuz if you don't the bearing will dry up and will get fried.

Update on my FD, as you can see it's been in the shop for a while.

I finally got my clutch last mon and got it put in. He said the pilot bearing got stuck so he had to force it out. Then when I left there was a squeeling sound from the clutch. I called my mechanic up and he said, drive it around for a few days and see what happens. I did, sound never went away so took it back. Now he says that it's coming from the transmission and will probably have to drop the tansmission and replace the outer shaft (or some part)? Man, is it me or do I feel I'm getting milked.

So anybody know what it is, sounds like? do I just have a bad mechanic or did he just miss something.
