They are pretty cheap compared to others.
makes me think they are made out of Chinesium Metal.
let me know what you guys think. I do t want to roll the dice on pot metal.

ask for a materials testing report before you spend your $s.

if you read my Tenson Bolt Tech Section you will see i tested a number of tension bolts including OE. you don't want to be buying the last set... approx 50% of the strength of OE.

another good option is to buy a set of take out OE thru bolts from a 13BREW that has NEVER BEEN TAKEN APART. the primary thru-bolt issue i have when rebuilding a BREW is that so many have already been rebuilt. the correct torque for the thru bolts is 28 ft pounds. if 28 is good, more than 28 must be better. more than 28 stretches the bolt into yield.

what does Mazda know about materials anyway? ( hint... Mazda learned so much designing the rotary that they started a contract materials consulting co).

overtorque the thru bolts and they get into yield

piston guys have this dialed on the all important rod bolts. they are able to measure stretch. there really is no way to know if some rebuilder overtorqued your thru bolts.

on medium power builds i buy take outs from new motors or motors that haven't been rebuilt for $100 a set and am quite happy to use them. as you can see from my website section they are first class as to tensile strength. approx Grade 8 or metric 10.9.

if not overtorqued.

 

So if OP took his motor apart for the first time, then maybe he could re-use his bolts?

The cost to produce our studs at extremely large quanity is above that amount, so that should alone tell you something. I wish we could get these made cheaper, its just not possible.

 

Don't worry, i ordered a set of your studs and they showed up a few days ago. I'm just waiting on apex seals and i can start the build
