Thermal Pellet + mazdaspeed shaft oil jets...
Thermal Pellet + mazdaspeed shaft oil jets...
Hello,
I'm french and as each time, I apologize for my english.
I have built a track day FD with few spec on the engine to improve reliabitily.
- Banzai Racing oil pan brace
- 2 stroke oil tank adapter
- braided OMP hoses
- rotary aviation rebuilt kit
- mazdaspeed shaft oil jets
- mazdaspeed side oil seals springs
- thermal pellet
- engine not ported
- housing coolant flow improved around spark plugs (as on the 16X) to alloy a better water flow in this critical area (but I haven't retire too much material kipping it reliable)
Since I have rebuilt my engine (not my first rebuilt) I have a problem.
When the engine is COLD, I have a burned oil smell in the car.
After checking, there is a little leak on the primary turbo waste gate shaft. So it slide on the downpipe, burn and smell in the car.
I have also a motoroil anormal consumption (My OMP is derivated in a 2 stroke Oil tank so it shouldn't consum motor oil)
And finally, sometimes, the front rotor don't start well so I have to put some throttle blows to start it.
As soon as my engine is warmed up, there is no smoke (only a little smoke due to 2 stroke oil), no smell, and my engine goes well.
Compression are excellent and no excessive blow by bring me to eliminate a side oil seals problem.
So my question :
Could the thermal pellet and the shaft oil jets the problem?
I explain myself.
Everybody knows that steel side plates and aluminium housing don't expand at the same speed. So lateral play is logically bigger when engine cold.
with the jets and thermal pellet, rotors are full of oil even if the engine is cold so I suppose it could pass in the lateral play to go in the chambers.
Has somebody seen the same problem with modified or mazdaspeed jets?
could somebody confirm my supposition?
Thanks

I would suggest that you pull the turbos get a good look in the exhaust port and see if you can see oil puddled up at the bottom of the rotor housings. If so most likly it the oil control rings.
While the turbos are off fill the oil feed line with oil and pressurize it to see if the seals are leaking.
Your english is much better than my french. Good luck.
