Tearing Down The Engine, Burning Oil.
Ok I Have A 1983 RX7 1.1 Litre carburated engine and when I start driving I get engulfed in blue smoke I know it burning oil like crazy. So I want to start the project of tearing the top of the engine off and doing some replacing of the bearings. This is my first carburated engine so I understand the concept of what I'm doing but the process is a little different from a 3.1 DOHC So I'm in hopes that someone is willing to give me tips, websites, pictures, anything that would help meunderstand what I'm looking for and what to do with it please. Thank you. I've done bearing replacement before on cylinder heads, but a rotery engine works a bit different so I'm a bit out of my league here. Again I Appreciate any and as much help as I can get. I'm hoping to do this saturday and sunday if I get enough information and parts on time.

You should probably be hanging out in the 1st gen section. For about $25.00 you can purchase a DVD video that will walk you through the entire rebuild process. Check over at www.atkinsrotary.com Before you rebuild, make sure that your oil level is not too high (this will cause excessive burning). Good luck.
