super frusterated and need help please!!!!

ok so heres the story/deal... so i was drivin my car (87 rx7 turbo II) to work and it all of a sudden started dying on me. i would give it gas and it would choke its self out and just die faster. to me, obviously not getting fuel. my gas gauge said i had 1/8 of a tank.. ive ran it lower then this and did fine, so i assumed something else.. got it towed home put a new fuel filter on it and still wouldnt run. checked for fuel pressure... had some but was weak. pulled the fuel pump it was fine and to my discovery it was a brand new walboro. looked in the tank and to my surpise... no gas wow did i feel dumb... put some gas in it, started right up. and then my buddy decides he is gonna time my car since my idle bounces he thinks its cause of that... (its not) and i knew this, but he figured it would help... so he times my car to stock specs. car idles a little better but runs like ****!!!! now when i drive it, i have no power anymore. im pushing 5 pounds of boost, but feels like 0 my turbo will spool super fast and stick at 5 but cant feel it... and my turbo gets redicuelasly hot! so i tried to put the timing back to where it was and still runs like ****! im sooo lost! someone please help !!!

You'd have better response if this post was in the noob (new member tech) section.

Running a Walbro dry could have damaged it. Start by measuring the regulated fuel pressure at idle.

You may also want to check for interference with the fuel gage float causing you to read 1/8 when it's actually dry. Or you could just fill it when you reach 1/8 tank (I don't let my TII get below 1/4 tank and even that is pushing it for high G maneuvers)

if you knew nothing was wrong with the timing, then why did you let him touch it?

aside from the fuel pump, is the car still stock? do you still have cats? could be a dying/dead cat.

anyway, i'd start with the timing. from what little you described, it sounds like he may have retarded it. verify that you're back to stock settings and go from there. also, have you checked the plugs recently?

ya i tried to explain to him that it was fine but he was persistant.... i punched the cat, checked the plugs, combed the engine over for vacuum leaks, tightened every bolt i could get to. ive finally come to terms that i think its already time for a new engine... it burps and farts, blows out blue smoke and has power of one rotor...
just bought the car for 2k and i already gotta put another 1k to make it move again... LOVE IT!!!

Do a compression check to see if you are actually running on one rotor.
