stubburn oil leak

1st gen 83, persistent oil leak at top of motor between
1st block & 1st rotor sections. only leak of any kind, very clean car. Does anyone know of any fixes before I split the case & replace the seal or rebuild? motor still runs strong, be a shame to tear into it.

P.S. to previous post, I've already tried the miracle stop leaks & seal softeners. No go.
Any reasonable suggestions?

not ready to start looking yet, considering doing it myself
I'm a diesel mech. for a school dist. I've just never tackled a rotary before, motorcycles and other motors yes. I figured it would be a learning experience. I will be pricing a rebuild kit. I live in central Calif.
