street-ported 13b with hollley carb

Hey - need help.
Rx-7 buddy has a '79 with a street-ported 4-port 13b engine with a Racing Beat holley carb & intake. However, it will not run (or idle) below 1,500 rpm. I've already replaced the fuel filter, checked/cleaned the plugs, ignition, etc. but cannot get it to idle. Any ideas???
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Look for intake leaks. Check all the bolts that hold the carb and intake down and make sure you have good gaskets and also check anthing that was plugged and also the hose to the brake booster. Check your plugs after they have been ran awhile and if they show lean "white" means you have some kind of intake leak.

this may sound crazy but you might want to check the vent plugs on the main bodies there are four per side. I had a similar problem and found one of these weren't drilled from holley. if this isn't the case check the idle mixture screws. you may have a ignition timing problem if the carb checks out.
