Hello it's Spencer again. I live in Cody wyoming and recently bought a 1983 Mazda rx7 5 speed with 70,000 miles. Car has the 12a motor but I'm thinking the motor is seased because the crank pully would not budge an inch when I used a ratchet with a bar haha. I'm thinking about buying a 13B and am wondering what 13B will bolt up to the 5 speed and the upgrades or etc I need for a swap. Or... Ways to brake my 12a free. Comment let me know thanks!

 

you will need another set of extractors and you will need the n304 sump and need to slot both the engine bracket 10 mm and the engine mount underneath the rubber mount 10 mm for a total of 20 mm to fit the 13b engine

( assuming it is a pre 1986 13b engine and timing cover already )

for later ( FC and FD ) engines then you also need an adapter for the carb inlet manifolds
and you need to swap on the 12a or 13b GSL-SE timing cover
( and mod it for a turbo drain if going turbo )


and this involves reading up on the technique so not to upset the torrington bearings and endfloat
