Still.... Flooding..... Yesh! For the love of*#%!

I'm at the end of my darn rope. Started gradually not starting the next morning usually after a long drive (3hrs or more) or when driving hard usually in the rain to test the city's traction control problem they have on my Orlando streets... Anyways, Every morning now for almost two months I turn it over in the morning first thing it starts then dies right away. If I continue to turn the motor over I smell fuel, then proceed to unplug the fuse closest to the motor to spin the 13b to un flood it. To plug the fuse back in and start the motor. Sometimes I repeat to get to work but anyways then it runs fine all day. Get to work, then the bank, to lunch and at the end of the day 40 min back home. I guess if it sits all night something goes wrong??? I've checked all vac lines all ok. Yesterday I replaced the fuel pressure regulator with a new unit. Thinking that was the problem and this morning same darn problem. Anyone have any fresh ideas? This happens after I replace the a.c. power steering, cruise, motor mounts, tranny mount, drive shaft and new tranny, both ball joints and new steel braided oil cooler lines! Now the darn thing floods every morning it's killing me here. Don"t know what else it could be. I'm about to run a toggle swich to the fuel pump to bypass it so I dont have to pop the hood every morning.

WOW! 24 views and no ideas? That reeeeeeally stinks. I just posted a craigs list for a blown motor that I'd pay 50 for to get the top off in case it might be the injection system. Anyone have a spare Ecu? Just planning ahead...

Man you guys are killing me here. Everything I've done to this car. Not a compression test. I done know how it would run all day fine but sit then not start. The plugs have less than an oil change on them. Whole nother story. I didnt know there was trailing and leading! I went to the parts store asking for spark plugs, and they sold them to me! ALL TRAILING. So when I learned about that went back got the leading. Then learned the hard way where the leading went. I had them in backwards! SO YES!!!!! They are new Ngk plugs. And in right. And on a side note. After this car is finally done, I am going to wright the "Rx7 book for dummies" and then send a copy to all my peeps in the forum. Titled "AAAAAAAAA!!!!!" Look for it.

I think your fellow club members recommended a compression test because of how you've described your problem. Based on what you're describing, a compression test would be a good place to start (compression is lower on a cold engine than a warm engine).

So this evening I pulled and dried the plugs, pulled the fuse and spun the motor to un flood it. Put .75 Oz of marvel Mystery oil in the lower rotor chambers. Put it all back together and it fired right up! As usual.... I bypassed the Fuel pump with a toggle switch. AND BY THE WAY! It's not the red wire. Not the blue wire! Not the black wire! But the fourth black wire with white stripe. Tested twice and after a test drive pulled it in purring and closed the circuit shutting off the motor. We'll see what happens in the morning...

Sounds to me like the injectors are leaking after shutdown...

That's what I was going to say, injectors bleeding off, or bad o-rings at the top or bottom maybe? Dirty injectors? But yes, compression may be the issue as well. Is the air filter and passages clear? Seen this cause serious issues as well and often overlooked.

Yea flirting with the fuel pressure regulator and from the mass a.f.m. back seems super clean. I just replied to someone about the injectors. Please let me know if anyone has some injectors for sale? I didn't get home from work on time last night and lost my auction on ebay! I even thought about making it a carb set up... Then woke up. Thinking fuel injection is so reliable.. Well anyways, I can do c.o.d. at my shop address so everyone knows I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I run a shop in Orlando Fl. Please let me know about the injectors. Playing with fire here I wouldn't mind a small upgrade to injectors w e.c.u. if anyone has one taking up space in the garage... Miie

You could always send them out to be cleaned/tested.

And I doubt that you have a compression issue behind this problem. Poor compression would be a constant thing, not something that comes and goes...

I was thinking the same thing on the compression. I'd like to thank matt87FC (Matt) for the help. Dood is shipping me a set of injectors. I even typed in his email wrong and my paypal didn't go through and he said he had shipped the injectors out anyway and we would work it out later! I logged in and corrected the problem right away. BUT! This is what the forum is about. Heck I have problems finding reliable help in Orlando. Yet a forum? As soon as I darn figure out the ranking of a member I'd give this guy a 5. I know it's not ebay! But this was really a big help. To pay homige here to the forum, Thank you rx7 club verry helpful. Thank you Matt!

Anytime man! Something else to check If the injectors dont fix the problem, is check to see if your secondary injectors are getting proper connection. the clip to mine was loose and kept barely sliding off one of them and causing my car to not start after sitting in the mornings. Then itd get flooded and Id have to deflood it.
