its the lemans race engine. ~700hp P-Port. it won lemans in 91 and was, i believe, banned. it was also the first japanese car to win lemans (correct me if i'm wrong). there's also been a 6rotor i think. and there's 13G 3rotor race engines. along with typical 20B factory 3rotor engines.

the 6 rotor i think there's a video of one running. i don't know what you're talking about with the 1200 or 900hp "stock." there is nothing "stock" about 4 or 6 rotors (i dont even know if there is more than one 6 rotor; i'm not even 100% sure i read something about it).
i don't know exactly why the car was banned. i said i "believe" it was banned as i hate to spread a rumor or lie. i *believe* i remember reading it was banned, but i don't recall why. it won by a few minutes if i remember correctly. you can search, its the 787B racecar. there's other lemans style rotary racecars. i think the 792, but i'm not sure. its a nicer looking car in my opinion.

The 787b was banned because it killed all of the other competition. It had a unfair advantage over the piston engines, so le mans banned (god, i cant remember what the part is called!!) i believe it was the type of intake system that the 787 was using. So mazda, instead of spending money to redesign the system, dropped the project. I beleive this is why, correct me if im wrong

The 787B was not banned, its engine was. After the 1991 win, the Le Mans sanctioning body banned rotary engines due to difficulties in classifying them against piston engines. It's interesting that this wasn't a problem for the many years Mazda had been unsuccessfully campaigning rotaries at Le Mans...
There was no 26G, only the R26B. I think you're getting confused with the the 3-rotor 13G race engine.

I could fit a 26B in my car. I just installed a 20B in it yesterday with plenty of room to spare (going rearward). A shorter driveshaft and custom bent forward shifter would be needed, as well as a custom intake manifold. Exhaust wouldn't be a problem.
Too bad I can't afford one.
