another...relatively stupid newbie question
Hey guys,
I have found a car that is supposedly in immaculate condition but with a blown motor. When inspecting this car before buying it, what should I check in the car to ensure that after having a motor rebuild, I will have a good, reliable car?

the best i can do with this is to tell you to use your common sense and gut judgment on the car and seller (not necessarily in that order). if you sense idocy or abuse - just walk away, man.
the truth is there are no gurantees that something else isn't wrong with the car. hell, even if it ran there could be problems that would escape a thorough test drive and test of systems that would eventually rear their ugly heads down the road ...

In NY... Look over every inch under the car that you can for Rust.
Check inside the enging compartment for rusty stuff..
You see a lot.. you know it aint mint...
Also if you wanna be real ****.. get a small magnet and check around the 4 corners to see if it sticks.. to see if they repaired it.
