Single rotor race engine
Good morning and thanks for the opportunity to join the club. I have been working at an engine builder shop on and of for 30 years and have done some interesting things to engines. But I'm a newbie with theses rotorys. My though here is to build a very lightweight higher horsepower race motor basically to put on a four wheel drag chassis. So don't beat me up my mind gets a little out there. I want to take a single rotor housing peripheral ported and basically eliminate everything else by using steel lined aluminum plates for end housings high speed sealed bearings and possibly an external oiling for what is needed. We run 260 300 500 1/8 mile. My thoughts are minimal water if any with alky should keep it cool for the 20 or 30 seconds of run time and hopefully 3 to 6 seconds of go time again my mind wonders of some but I see this as a doable engine with a turbo I would like to see somewhere in the 350 HP range. I have no problem piping water through the housing if necessary also ...possibly adding a little 2cyle oil to keep the heat down. But know I'm just rambling lol. Well let the stomping begin ...and thanks in advance for the great knowledge that can be found.
