Signs of a rebuilt engine?

The motor I have in my pickup has a "2" stamped in each each rotor housing, and I'm curious if by chance, it has been rebuilt with two rear rotor housings?
Really hoping to have found more than I did.
Are there any things that can give away that an engine has been rebuilt?

Get a compression test and go from there let's say you have very good compression & 100, + miles on the body of the car there is a chance the motor has a rebuild.
