s5 6port turbo
i need help with some problems i am having. i want to turbo my s5 na engine. i have seen the ones online but it seems like they are all s4's. would there be much difference between the s4's and s5's? another thing is that the s5 6port engine is high compression(9.7:1). is it safe to turbo this engine? what else should i add to the list of things to do?

i have turboed all the rotors with exception of the 9.7 s5 and 10.0 rx8
9.4 has a practical limit around 7- 8 psi ( stockish boost )
- when you add 10 and more PSI , significant amount of timing retard
( and very cold plugs )
need to be used to retain any safety margins
- so much so, its peter robbing paul
- from my own observations, i will never boost onto any more than 9.4

by the way, there are a handful of turbocharged 9.7:1 engines out there. i can't speak on how long they've lasted or specifics (which turbo, how much boost, fuel system mods, etc.) because i simply didn't follow up with them after reading the initial build, but if you search you should be able to find them.

You can boost the engine, just read up on methanol and water injection if you want to crank up the boost. My S5 6 port turbo sees 8psi on the stock turbo with stock TII ECU, injectors and sensors on 93 octane and it pulls hard as hell with full boost pretty much whenever you step on it (-3000rpm). Everything is pretty much the same as the S4 as far as the conversion. I highly suggest using the TII intake manifolds instead of the exhaust spacer and stock manifolds just so the intercooler plumbing is easier, you can upgrade the turbo later and removal and installation of the turbo is extremely easy. You will probably also make more power in the end since the manifolds have shorter runners and the turbine housing doesn't sit so close to the intake. Also the wastegate relocation can be eliminated...there are too many reasons. Just do a little research on the emissions delete you'll have to do.
Search for SonicRat, he's built a couple S5 6 port turbos, with one of them running a GT35R.

me and my boys turbo'ed a 12a na we boosted 13psi and the engine didnt get messed up but it did blow...the dowel pins broke lol...
so we talked to a few rotory builders and they said you can boost up to 30psi with an na...all you need is to machine 2 dowel pins to each corner( a rotory only uses 1 on each corner) so yea 12 dowel pins all together...and we did that and were boosting 32psi...but we need more fuel...
so if anyone has a 4 barrel throttle body i would greatly appreciate it...
you can do that to your 13b also, the whole dowel pins thing i mean and youll also need a whole lot of fuel to feed that little beast...
oh were running nines in that car...but it still isnt tuned right so yea and we keep breaking axles we have a gslse rear end with kia gears...so were hoping to see good numbers when we drop the toyota diff in and a turbo2 tranny and a few other adj.

At this point Im not ready to break it up because if I get around to my project car this is the setup id be using. So its either sell this entire setup and make a custom one, or hold onto it if i dont
