Unhappy rough idle after blockhead touched my rotary

Hey guys!
My blockhead boyfriend decided to "fix" my 87 RX7 and has caused me some major headaches. He broke my AFM which I had to ask you guys for help with. God knows what the frig else he touched. He is now locked out of the garage which solves my first problem. My second problem is that the car is idling funny. She sounds all bogged down and I have a very rough idle, especially when she starts to warm up. No leaks, CAS fine. Is it TPS? BAC? I only touch what I have to when she breaks and don't want to mess with anything.

How did he break the AFM? That would definitely cause a rough idle.

Maybe you should let your car do some "work" on your boyfriend and see how he feels.

I'll try to keep this short, I'm just so fired up!!! My man thinks I can't fix my own car because I'm a girl. I now locked him out of my garage and have taken all matters into my own hands. He fiddled with the AFM and shoved some sensors back into it and broke the connectors. You guys helped me find that. It looked fine but at close inspection I saw where he mashed the connectors inside. You guys pointed me in that direction. I replaced the whole AFM but the idle is still out wack. She sounds like she is running underwater. Any suggestions? (besides a new man?)

What shape were the connectors in? The only thing I can think of is he broke one of the connectors in some way.

I'd post a link to this thread in the second gen section also.

If he damaged the connector on the AFM, he may also have damaged the cable end connection have a good look at this and ensure all the contacts are A-OK. If you can bring yourself to ask him nicely, see if you can get him to tell you if anything else was touched while he was playing around with your motor.
Was the car running perfectly before he started fiddling? If so, what was he trying to do? Any more info about the original fault may make diagnosis easier

Hmm.. My car has a pretty rough idle and I can't seem to adjust it to be smooth at all. It bounces around between 800 and 600 someimtes too, sometimes steady, sometimes not...

So my question regarding this is how can you tell if the AFM is broken?
the screw on mine seems to make little difference when turning it and it turns around a couple of times, should it turn this much? Is there really anyway to check it?

Any other suggestions on what esle could cause this idle problem?
