Rotor Coating?

Ok, I searched the forum and can't find the answer to what is probably a stupid question. Do the rotor combustion faces have a coating on them from the factory? Reason for question is this, I disassembled TII engine and had lots of build up on rotors. I cleaned them with a wire brush and carb cleaner to the point that I believe they are bare metal. I also disassembled a NA engine and the rotor in it looks like it has some sort of couting on it. (shiney, compared to TII) Did I remove some coating or something? This is my first rotary rebuild and I don't want to screw it up. Thansk for the help.

I am not aware of any coating on stock rotor faces. It is common to clean them vigorously during a rebuild, so your cleaning should be fine.
