hey guys, goin with a custom vmount setup currently.......the rad is all mounted and done, doing the IC now.....the core i have is 4" thick.... the thought popped into my head today that maybe heatsoak is gonna become a problem since its so thick? what do you think? i have a ks style hood as well so i'm sure that will help, just curious on thoughts before its in and mounted

I am not sure how the thickness would contribute to heat soak, other than simply having a relatively large amount of mass in the IC core (which is a tolerable side effect of having a big IC).

If the air finds it much easier to flow through the radiator rather than the IC (due to the thick core), you might get less flow through the IC core than you want. However, you could install a horizontal splitter plate in the middle of the V -- that should both allow you to control the flow through each of the heat exchangers (rad & IC) and it would probably help prevent heat soak, too, since it would reduce the amount of hot air that floats up from the radiator through the IC. (Holy run-on sentence!) Do you have any plans to install such a splitter?

ahh thats not a bad idea! what your saying definitly makes sense, i hadn't planned on installing a splitter but now ya got me thinking. if anything i'll go ahead as planned without one and if heatsoak does end up being a problem i can always add the splitter later on. thanks for the insight
