relentless clutch slippage
relentless clutch slippage
A few months ago I bought a clutch kit because my clutch was slipping. When I drive my car in the morning or for a while, my clutch doesn't slip. When I do a lot of stop and go, or a long drive. That's when my clutch starts to slip. The weird part is, I touch the metal part of my shifter under my shift ****, It gets hot and that's usually when the clutch starts to slip (there must be a lot of friction/slippage). I just recently changed the transmission fluid with royal purple at the same time I replaced the clutch with the kit. The exact same thing happens even after I installed the new kit. When I looked at my old disk it looked like it was in great condition and there was no oil on it to indicate leakage from a rear seal. My clutch pedal is also adjusted all the way out and the engagement (friction) zone is at the very top of the pedal. I replaced the slave cylinder and zero change. I put some washers on the slave cylinder as spacers and it fixed the problem for a few hours then reverted back to its old ways. I have also changed the pressure plate, bearings, seals, slave cylinder, clutch, steal braided line. flywheel is stock and in great condition. Clutch kit is awesome, from Pettit racing, a very reputable company. Please help me solve this issue. It is making me dread driving a car I know can be great. This is freaking depressing, an issue I have been trying to figure out for months.
Try adjusting the pedal so that the engagement point is lower. Having it adjusted all the way at the top of the pedal may prevent the clutch from fully engaging, causing slippage.
Good luck.

Good luck.

just to clarify. If I have the clutch pedal pin touch the master cylinder it does not engage. only with the pin not touching the master cylinder does the clutch grab enough to drive the car. There is not enough adjustment out available.
